As snow covers the ground once again, I’m excited to blog this lovely photo shoot I styled at the tail end of last winter for The Willinghams. I wanted to create something with inspirational details and a bohemian edge and show that a winter wedding in Colorado can be the most perfect event. I brought in LOTS of feathers, quite a bit of leather, and put my DIY skills to work making feathered plates and champagne glasses, garlands, a belt for the bride and all the other details you’ll see below. One of my favorite processes for this shoot was designing a cake with the incredible Rachael Teufel of Intricate Icings. When I sat down to describe my dream cake to Rachael, I showed her photos of the real leather belts I wanted her to put on the cake tiers and she said, “Oh Jill, I can make those out of sugar!” – (insert mind blown). I also wanted one curved feather on the top tier and of course she pulled that out of her magical sugar hat as well. I requested some fabulous furniture from sweet Gretchen at Chairished and incredible flowers arranged by the ladies at Bare Root Flora. The custom stationary was hand drawn by Denver artist Fletcher Zaragoza and the hand made wooden rings and cake server are from Jarrod Renaud of The Reno Brothers who also modeled as our dashing groom in a bow tie by Our House Vintage. Our bride is the gorgeous Anastasia Novikova who is wearing a gown by Winifred Bean and hand made earrings by Christina Graziano with hair styled by Graham Nation and makeup by Stephanie Klasse. I feel so thankful to know so many creative people who are all willing to pull together and lend their talents and hand made processes.
I hope you enjoy the winter wonderland we created…

I’m welcoming Autumn with a sweet shoot I styled for Jarrod Renaud with florals by BareRoot Flora and modeling by the gorgeous Julian Machann.
Fall is my favorite season, so I welcome it with open arms! Enjoy these images that capture the crisp beauty of Autumn and have fun reading my behind the scenes comments on the experience of the shoot (which did not in fact happen in Autumn).

Wonder what happened behind the scenes? This shoot was actually done on a 100 degree day in the summer of 2012. Thanks to the forward thinking genius of Jarrod, we had bags of leaves from the previous Fall. Add in vintage jewelry from my collection, a lovely gown from a vintage shop in Longmont, makeup by Natosha Cooke, Fall florals by the amazing Robyn Rissman and modeling by the beautiful Julian Machann and we achieved a unique and lovely set of images. I don’t think Jarrod, Julian or I will ever forget this shoot as it was SO HOT and WINDY that at one point we had to run back to our cars and wait out a wee tornado. Julian and I shared our Subway sandwich and chatted while Jarrod and his wife Tess passed the time in their truck. Once the strong winds passed, we headed back out to get more shots including some bad ass shears and a dress and bouquet totally transformed. I might post the “runaway bride” portion of this shoot in the next few days.
